65465465432132154654645Via IGN.com – Waiting for a new Pink Panther movie to be produced? Well, you’re in luck. MGM has revealed plans to produce one that will be in live action and hybrid CG. This will not be a sequel to the Steve Martin series. It will be about the origin of Pink Panther, which debuted in the first film’s opening credits before spinning off into its own series – starring Steve Martin.

Set to produce this film is original Executive Producer of the movies and TV show, Walter Mirisch, with Julie Andrews and her husband, Blake Edwards, who wrote and directed most of the 11 films.

Longtime “The Simpsons” director David Silverman will direct this movie. David has been with the Simpsons since 1987 when they were cartoon sketches on “The Tracy Ullman Show”. He currently serves as Supervising Producer on the long running animated sitcom.

The President of MGM’s motion picture group Jonathan Glickman said “We are incredibly proud to re-introduce the Pink Panther to a brand new generation in such a fresh way.” He also said he’s delighted to have Silverman on board to direct – saying David is enthusiastic and convincing the team to “think pink!”

No comment from Steve Martin.

MGM hasn’t released a date for this movie but stay tuned as we will keep you updated on our Facebook page – thewtfshow.com/Facebook. Give the page a ‘like’ as well – please and thank you :-)
