It was “bound” to happen, for a 5th time at the wip

98666876986_1As we walk into 2016 there is some mega movie news that just hit: Disney (yes, that Disney of The Intergalactic Empire of the mouse) has confirmed a 5th Indiana Jones movie! Bob Iger, the Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO, mentioned that the movie is happening during an interview with Bloomberg.

We all know that Disney acquired Lucasfilm a few years ago (for only 4 billion dollars), which includes Lucasfilm’s intellectual properties — you know, things like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Iger spoke about the huge success of the recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and how that opened up the possibility to more sequels. Especially one for “Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming.”
There have been plenty of hints and rumors swirling up to this point. Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn has indicated his support reviving the film. And Director Steven Spielberg has said he’d like to keep the series going with actor Harrison Ford.

“As long as there’s more adventures out there, I’ve got a bullwhip, a fedora, a leather jacket and a man on a horse who knows how to get the job done,” Spielberg told Screen International. He made sure to add that it’s “certainly not [his] intention to ever have another actor step into [Harrison Ford’s] shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman.”

But if for whatever reason Harrison Ford didn’t return for the role, Chris Pratt has been rumored to star in the upcoming film. Nothing has been confirmed, though. The film wouldn’t be the same without the original Indiana Jones himself, but we have to admit that Chris Pratt would be pretty perfect for the role. He’s successfully led Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie.

Okay, it might have been just a quick comment, but Iger definitely said that Indiana Jones 5 is happening. And if the chairman and CEO of Disney said it, we’re pretty inclined to believe it. But maybe this time we could leave Shia LaBeouf out of it if we are sooo lucky ?
