CM Punk Gets His First Marvel Series?

Drax the Destroyer

Comic Book Resources has reported that former professional wrestler and UFC fighter CM Punk has been assigned his first ongoing Marvel series of comic books. The Chicago native will be co-writing the adventures of Guardian of the Galaxy’s most vicious member, Drax the Destroyer.

CM Punk wrote a story in Thor Annual earlier this year and also turned in a tale for DC/Vertigo’s Strange Sport Series on top of training to be in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

This will be the first full length comic book series that Mr. Punk will be involved in since getting involved in the worlds of Marvel and DC.

Coming in Winter 2015, “Drax #1″ will also be the first solo series for the green-skinned Destroyer. It’s said to follow Drax from “the intergalactic octagon to the far reaches of outer space”. In the movie “Guardian of the Galaxy”, Drax is portrayed by another former professional wrestler Dave Bautista so it is interesting that Marvel chose CM Punk to write this comic series.

CM Punk’s co-writer has yet to be announced, but as always, we will keep you updated as soon as we get more information.
