1464599_696255990399209_227606109_nIt’s finally here. Early reports had Warner Bros. and Legendary releasing the first trailer for Godzilla at the start of November, and we waited and waited, but to no avail.

Gareth Edwards’ highly anticipated blockbuster hits the big screen just as the summer season kicks off, and now the studios have released an epic first trailer for the mammoth monster movie.
An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, and David Strathairn lead a stellar cast.

Max Borenstein and Frank Darabont wrote the script, based on a story by Borenstein and Dave Callaham, with Thomas Tull (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) and Mary Parent (Pacific Rim) producing.

At Comic-Con, Edwards and the cast spoke about wanting to keep a sense of intimacy, despite it being an epically-scoped blockbuster. That level of intimacy is exactly what I loved about Edwards’ debut, Monsters, and it’s incredibly promising to hear that, in spite of the scale of his follow-up, he still wants to keep things intimate.

Godzilla will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on May 16th, 2014, and is very much one of the films to beat next year.
